About Lhasa, Sky Lake and Lake Namtso

Tibet is a plateau region in Asia, north-east of the Himalayas. It is the traditional homeland of the Tibetan people as well as some other ethnic groups such as MonpasQiang, and Lhobas, and is now also inhabited by considerable numbers of Hui people. Tibet is the highest region on earth, with an average elevation of 4,900 metres (16,000 ft.).

Of all the Tibetan areas in China, the TAR is a special case. Along with a visa, foreign visitors are officially required to have a permit issued by the PSB to enter the province. Without it, you'll be unable to buy air or bus tickets. However, you don't have to worry about where and how to get these permits. If you take common routes, such as Chengdu - Lhasa (Air) or Kathmandu Lhasa foreign travellers must buy both the permit and the ticket together through a travel agency who provide the travel permit.

Lhasa City tour is yet another popular 4 day tour package to the Holy city of Lhasa in Tibet.  Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region is a historically worthy town dated back to more than 1300 years in the history of Tibet. The city of Lhasa is located between 29o 36'N and 19o 06' E at an altitude of 3650 meters above sea level towards the northern bank of Kyichu river. Lhasa city tour is also popular because the city of Lhasa has been the hub of politics, economy, culture and religion in Tibet.

The age old monasteries and temples in the city have preserved many historical relics, Buddhist scriptures, arts, and crafts. Lhasa city tour is one of the shortest and refreshing trips which are also very cheap and memorable.
Lhasa city tour starts after you take an hour flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa which is more reminiscent to mountain flight. This flight will offer you the most spectacular mountain views of the beautiful mountain ranges. In Lhasa our representative will receive you in airport and transfer you to hotel. On the next two days of your tour you will enjoy the sightseeing tour to Lhasa city where you will explore the Jhokhang Temple, the bustling Barkhor Streets, the wonderful Potala palace and the Holy Derpung and sera monasteries.

Meanwhile, if you are not used to the high altitude, then this is one of the very good  itineraries that cover the all the main tourist sites in Lhasa like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkor street, Drepung and sera monastery.

Highlight of your tour would be the one of the must-see attractions sacred lake Namtso. The heavenly lake is  the second largest alpine saline lake in Tibet with an altitude of 4,780  meters above sea level. Its surrealistic beauty will take your breath away in no time. Just as a tourist noted:" It is one of those rare places on Earth where you feel the beauty of Nature as something material.
